As a kind of clean energy, solar energy will greatly reduce pollution and greenhouse gas emission instead of traditional energy. The China Pavilion at the Expo has adopted solar energy as a green energy source, with an installed solar power capacity of 302 kilowatts. According to the architectural design of the pavilion, the monocrystalline silicon solar modules are laid on a 68-meter high platform and a 60-meter viewing platform.
The blue part on the roof of the theme pavilion is also solar modules, covering an area of 26,000 square meters. The total installed capacity of the photovoltaic power station is 2825kwp, which will become the largest integrated solar photovoltaic building power station in Asia. The solar panel area is over 30,000 square meters, and the annual electricity generation exceeds 2.8 million KWH, which is the annual electricity consumption of nearly 5,000 ordinary households. The total installed solar power capacity of the Expo site can reach 4,700 kilowatts.
The Belgian-EU Pavilion photovoltaic module roof project was constructed by Trina Solar Energy of Changzhou. The roof contains approximately 690 Trina high-quality modules, covering 1,200 square meters of roof area. It is expected to generate 116,000 kWh of electricity, save 39 tons of coal and reduce 87 tons of carbon emissions every year. In addition to the traditional displays of diamonds, chocolates and so on, the Belgian Pavilion also displays models of solar-powered cars, and the exquisite curtain wall of flowers is powered by solar energy.
The 17 meter high translucent curtain outside the Swiss Pavilion is decorated with 10,000 red "small SUNS". Each "small sun" is a red photosensitive device with the size of a disk. Using the advanced solar power generation technology, the solar cell, photosensor and LED cooperate to work according to the Angle and intensity of incident light.
